The Parents Council, a select group of parents and family members of current and incoming Syracuse University students, serves as an advisory board to the senior vice president for the student experience and the division’s leadership. You help us achieve our mission as a university, with a special focus on philanthropy and volunteerism and you help shape the future for our students.
Dear Fellow Parents Council Members,
As co-chairs of the Parents Council, we want to welcome you all to the 2021-2022 Syracuse University Parents Council! The Parents Council is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into the University’s strategic vision and engage with University leadership to help shape that vision, particularly in the area of student engagement. The Parents Council helps make a large university seem smaller and enables members to make connections with University leadership and other engaged parents that are not otherwise possible.
As we plan for the coming academic year, we are delighted to be able to meet in person once again! Please mark your calendars for October 7 and 8. We will gather for networking and cocktails at the Sheraton Hotel on campus at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, and then at 8:30 a.m. at the National Veterans Resource Center for our business meeting.
We hope that you all have found meaningful, creative and fun ways to connect with your students during the time that most of us had to be at home during the 2020-2021 academic year. We are hopeful that the negative effects of the pandemic are behind us, and that the upcoming year will be marked by a return to in-class learning, in-person arts and athletic events, as well as a myriad of other opportunities to connect as a University with all it has to offer its diverse and talented student body. Go Orange!

To serve on the Parents Council, you must already be a member of the prestigious Lubin Society and committed to a minimum annual gift of $5,000. Your gift is dedicated to a Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience fund which supports our students and their futures.
If you are selected to become part of the Parents Council, you have a unique opportunity to engage with Syracuse University in ways that perhaps you’ve never considered. Members of the Parents Council are appointed by the Chancellor and remain in close contact with senior administrators and faculty. They are informed of strategies and plans that impact students. They are asked for their opinions and their advice. They are invited to special events and gatherings, on and off campus, that make them part of an important network of influencers. And they serve as ambassadors for the University.
