Sexual Health Awareness Month

Every February, the campus community in collaboration with the Barnes Center at The Arch health and wellness team celebrates Frisky February, Syracuse University’s Sexual Health Awareness Month. Celebrations throughout the month highlight themes of education, relationships, self-love and campus resources, while raising awareness surrounding sexual health topics.

Events include:

  • Social Media Prize Drawing

  • Sexual Health Resource Fair
    Monday, Feb. 3 | 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. | Life Sciences Complex
    Let’s talk about sex! Come for games, prizes, music and more and discover
    on- and off- campus sexual health resources. Hosted by Student Association.
  • Pride Union’s 18th Annual Drag Show Preliminaries
    Thursday, Feb. 6 | 8-10 p.m. | Goldstein Auditorium
    Watch SU’s and ESF’s fiercest drag artists perform for a spot in the Drag
    Show Finals! Tickets are $3 and available in the My Tickets Portal. Hosted by Pride Union.
  • Safer Sex Express Volunteer Packing Party
    Thursday, Feb. 6 | 6-9 p.m. | 309 Barnes Center at The Arch
    Enjoy a free pizza party and earn community service hours! Volunteers
    help assemble Safer Sex Express packages and Wellness First Aid Kits. Hosted by the Barnes Center Safer Sex Express Brand Ambassadors.
  • Get Yourself Tested: STI Screening Days
    Thursday, Feb. 13 and Friday, Feb. 14 | 9 a.m.-4 p.m. | Barnes Center at The Arch, Second Floor
    Get Yourself Tested with two days of free and confidential STI screenings.
    Open to all students on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Ft. Speaker Katie Tastrom: Disabled People Are Better At Sex
    Friday, Feb. 14. | 3:30-4:30 p.m. | Peter Graham Scholarly Commons, Bird Library
    A presentation by Katie Tastrom on a strength-based approach to talking about disability and sexuality.
    Light refreshments and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation provided. Hosted by the Disability Cultural Center.
  • Mix It Up: Relationships & Sexual Health
    Friday, Feb. 14 | 5-7:30 p.m. | Center for International Services
    Join the Center for International Services and the Barnes Center Peer Educators for a meal and conversation with people of all backgrounds and cultures.

  • Good Loving Goes a Long Way
    Tuesday. Feb. 18 | 12:30-4 p.m. | Life Sciences Atrium
    Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc will be distributing goodie bags with condoms and lubricant, Valentine’s Day candy, and most importantly information on sexual health and what sexual consent looks like.

    Cheer on the top SU and ESF drag artists as they compete to be crowned the winner of the 18th Annual Drag Show! Tickets will be available for purchase in the My Tickets Portal in the coming weeks. Hosted by Pride Union.
  • The Joys of Toys: Sex Toys 101

    Ever wondered which sex toy is right for you? Learn about the ins and outs of sex toys and how to properly care for them. Hosted by REACH CNY.
  • The Body is Not an Apology: From Body Empowerment to Global Justice
    Monday, March 2 | 7-9 p.m. | Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium, Newhouse 3
    Join us for the Frisky February Keynote Speaker, Sonya Renee Taylor. Taylor is the founder and radical executive officer of The Body is Not an Apology, a digital media and education company with content reaching half a million people each month. Hosted by the Barnes Center at The Arch, School of Education, Falk College, and the following academic departments: English and Textual Studies, Geography, Women and Gender Studies, History.
