24-Hour Support 

Syracuse University students experiencing a mental health crisis, seeking support for sexual assault or relationship violence, or needing medical consultation can receive free confidential services 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 315.443.8000. Please note, routine consultations should hold until the next business day.

The Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for students seeking support, advocacy and discussion of reporting options for sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking and harassment by calling 315.443.8000. This is a free and confidential service.

Within the Barnes Center’s fitness complex, fitness floors, the track, the Climbing Wall, pool and Esports Room will remain available to use. Gymnasiums will be closed for basketball, soccer and volleyball. With the expanded resources and offerings available through the Barnes Center, upon returning to normal operations, satellite fitness centers, with the exception of Ernie Davis Fitness Center, will remain closed moving forward.

COVID-19 Wellness Kits are free for Syracuse University students and include three masks, an oral thermometer, hand sanitizer, a “no touch” tool and an information card highlighting COVID-19 symptoms, actions to take if experiencing symptoms, the Stay Safe Pledge and more.

The Barnes Center and campus partners are here to help.

  • If students receive positive test results at the Barnes Center at The Arch, they will be transported to an isolation location by Medical Transport and provided additional instructions and support.
  • Information regarding positive test results will be shared with the Onondaga County Health Department (OCHD) and campus contact tracers.
  • If tested elsewhere and you receive positive results, please call the Barnes Center at 315.443.8000 for instructions.

Cleaning Procedures and Healthy Habits

  • In support of health and wellness, the following Barnes Center entrances and exits have been separated.
    • For Health Care, Counseling, Pharmacy, Nutrition and Health Promotion please enter through the North Entrance facing the Physics Building. Please do not access Recreation from this space.
    • For Recreation please enter through the Sims Drive entrance facing Carnegie Library. Please do not access Health Care, the Pharmacy, Counseling or Health Promotion services, such as the Crowley Family MindSpa from this space.
    • For COVID-19 Testing by appointment, please enter through the Flanagan main doors facing Sims Drive. Please do not access from or enter the Barnes Center at The Arch
  • Masks are required at all times, except in the pool.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the building.
  • Surfaces will be frequently disinfected.
  • Minimum of 6 feet social distancing at all locations, with a minimum of 10 feet social distancing for all fitness equipment and in fitness classes.

  • Density of all spaces will be reduced by 50%.
  • Visitors are required to wipe down recreation equipment before and after use, and staff will deep clean equipment three times per day using gloves, cleaning towels and disinfectant spray bottles.
  • An ultraviolet (UV) cleaning system will be used for shared check-in computers when they must be used, in addition to esports and Crowley Family MindSpa equipment.
  • Offices and exam rooms will be disinfected after each in-person appointment.
  • As one of the newest facilities on campus the Barnes Center at The Arch exceeds air filtration requirements.
  • The Health Care waiting room will be separated into halves representative of sick and well students.
