Traditionally occurring one to three days prior to Syracuse Welcome, new students are encouraged to participate in a Pre-Welcome Program. Organized by interests, programs offer students the opportunity to meet and connect to fellow new students in small groups. From outdoor adventure to on-campus acclimation, there are programs for all interests!

Should I disclose my disability? What will my professors know? How do I access my testing, classroom and other disability-related accommodations? These are just a few of the many questions answered during our Pre-Welcome. Please note, registration is required to participate. This program is sponsored by the Center for Disability Resources.

The 'Cuse First Pre-Welcome Program is geared to incoming first year and transfer students that identify as the first in their family to attend college or their parent(s), supporter(s) or legal guardian(s) did not receive a college degree. Daily from 2 to 5 p.m., 'CuseFirst provides the opportunity to learn about resources on campus, meet first-generation student leaders and to further connect with the Syracuse University community!  Sessions will include study tips, how to navigate the University, managing finances and more. Attendees will feel more prepared for the first week of classes after this informative start to their Syracuse University career. This program is sponsored by the Office of First-Year and Transfer Programs.

Join Syracuse Hillel for our first ever virtual FreshFest! Over the course of two weeks, students will have the opportunity to be paired with an upperclass mentor, attend tons of fun programs like yoga, "dorm hangouts" and sessions to learn more about campus. The Leadership Online Orientation Program (LOOP) is designed to give incoming first year students a jump-start on their college experience. Participants will join peers and student leaders virtually each day from 2 to 4 p.m. Through a variety of large group activities and small group breakout sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to build connections and to learn more about Syracuse University. During the semester, this group will meet for an in-person experience on the Outdoor High Ropes Challenge Course located on South Campus.

During both the online and in-person experiences, students will have an opportunity to ask questions about life at Syracuse University, explore tips on being successful in their first year, as well as topics related to team building and personal development. Highlighted topics include creative problem solving, effective communication, resiliency and determination. This program is sponsored by the Barnes Center at The Arch.

Transfer Transitions is a fun and interactive Pre-Welcome program designed to help transfer students answer questions and prepare for their academic career at Syracuse University. Daily from 3 to 5 p.m., sessions include an introduction to academic resources and services, tips on being involved in campus life and how to navigate campus. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow transfer students and the Transfer Transitions Leaders (TTLs) (returning transfer students who will serve as a resource throughout each Becoming Orange journey)! This program is sponsored by the Office of First-Year and Transfer Programs.

Veteran students and their families are invited to enjoy a virtual introduction to the Syracuse University campus and to connect with peers. The postponed session will be hosted Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (EDT).  Highlights include a review of veteran resources, student support services, and services provided by Hendricks Chapel. Every student that attends this orientation program will have the opportunity to be paired with an on-campus student mentor. This program is sponsored by the Office of Veteran & Military Affairs and the Office of Engagement Programs.
