Applying for Housing
To live on campus, please submit your application immediately. Following the deadline and upon arrival to campus, please visit 206 Steele Hall, Housing, Meal Plan and ID Card Services for a housing assignment.

Join a Living Learning Community
Living Learning Communities (LLC) provide a distinct, personalized housing experience based on your academic interests, passions and studies. Plus, you live on the same floor with other LLC students who share common interests! LLC residents have exclusive access to faculty, staff and peer leaders and participate in social activities and outings together. The course selection and registration process at Syracuse University is called First Term Enrollment Selections (FTES). Each school or college conducts this process differently and has a different deadline. Pay close attention to your school's or college's deadline for completing your FTES. Before registering for classes some schools and colleges, depending on your program, will require a Mathematics Placement Exam. If you are taking a foreign language course, you may need to take a Foreign Language Placement Exam. Non-native speakers of English must take the English Language Assessment Exam.

By appointment only, Barnes Center at The Arch Health Care is available to assist you in obtaining the appropriate vaccinations if you have not been vaccinated or do not have documentation of your vaccinations.

Complete: You are REQUIRED to electronically submit your picture for your SU I.D. Card – instructions on how to submit a picture can be found below. Please note that to ensure your card is waiting for you upon check-in at your residence hall in August we ask that your picture be submitted by July 15. The website to upload a photo is available May 1.

How to upload your photo:

  1. You must first activate your syr.edu email address and NetID.
  2. Using your NetID and password you must log onto the Syracuse University Photo upload website. The ID Card Photo submission site https://its-cf-prod7.syr.edu/syridc/syrlogin.cfm. Notification about the photo upload process will be emailed to new students in May.
  3. Attach a digital photo that fulfills the following requirements:
    1. A high quality, clear, color photo with a plain background.
    2. A front view of your whole face with no other people or animals in the photo.
    3. Taken within the past 3 months.
    4. Taken without a hat or dark glasses.
    5. The photo must be in .jpg format and no more than 2 MB in size.
  4. Please note that you are only allowed to submit (1) photo. If we determine that the photo cannot be used then you will be notified with the option to send in another photo.

If for any reason you are unable to send a photo electronically, you can mail a photo to us. An acceptable photo should be wallet or passport photo size; a senior picture is acceptable. Please indicate your name SU I.D. number, and status (SU or ESF & Undergraduate or Graduate student) on a separate piece of paper and NOT on the back of the picture. This information should be mailed to Syracuse University, I.D. Services, 206 Steele Hall, Syracuse, New York 13244-1120.

We will still be able to process photos received after July 15 and before August 15 – however we cannot guarantee that the ID will be waiting for you upon check-in at your residence hall in August.

To confirm semester registration, your Bursar student account must be current. This means either paid in full or covered by anticipated financial aid (aid that has been awarded but not disbursed). Accounts on the Monthly Payment Plan are billed monthly and installments payments must be current.

Knowing When a Bill is Ready
An email notification is sent when an electronic bill (e-bill) is created and available to view on MySlice. If you are on the Monthly Payment Plan, you may pay for the semester in monthly installments. Explore the billing and payment schedule on the Accounts and Billing webpage.

Sharing Access to Bill
Share My Access is a feature used to set up parents/guardians to receive notifications of e-bills. This allows students to provide their parents/guardians with their own account and password necessary to view financial information online, as well as other University information.

Establishing a Financial Aid Plan
Additionally, you may establish your college financial plan with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs. Call 315.443.1513 or email your personal financial aid counselor for more information.

Syracuse University offers students a platinum-rated health insurance plan administered through Aetna Student Health. Each year, all full-time, matriculated undergraduate, graduate and law students must enroll in or waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan through their MySlice account. Students within traditionally online degree programs are not eligible to enroll in or waive the Student Health Insurance Plan.
