Annual Events

OMA Open House

During Syracuse Welcome in the fall and early January, Multicultural Affairs (OMA) holds an open house for all students, especially for students of color, and their families to become acquainted with the office and its programs and meet the OMA staff.

Cultural Centers Welcome

The Cultural Centers Welcome, which is part of Syracuse University Welcome programming, includes representatives from OMA as well as the Disability Cultural Center, the LGBTQ Resource Center, and Slutzker Center for International Services. The participation of each of these departments in the event demonstrates the interconnectedness of the University’s Cultural Centers and show our investment in caring for, understanding, and connecting with all SU students.

This is event is not only great for students and parents, but also for new staff and faculty to meet each other and for each office to share new developments and programs happening in the upcoming year.

This is a formal ceremony honoring WellsLink Scholars from the previous year who have successfully transitioned to their second year at Syracuse University. Academic Achievement Awards and Leadership Capital Certificates are presented and transitioning students receive stoles to symbolize their achievement. Nationally- and globally-recognized speakers are invited to this event.
