While residential instruction is suspended for the remainder of the semester, student services remain available. Below is a summary of hours, contact information and additional support. As updates become available, they will be shared here and on individual department and office websites.

In addition to phone calls and emails, virtual meetings may be hosted through Microsoft Teams. To access Microsoft Teams, please navigate to Microsoft Online and log in with your NetID and password. Please confirm additional details below.

Barnes Center at The Arch

Please note, unless visiting the Pharmacy, students are asked to call 315.443.8000 prior to visiting the Barnes Center at The Arch. Drop-in Health Care appointments are closed at this time. For non-emergency needs or questions that do not involve private health information, students may email BarnesCenter@syr.edu.

Effective Monday, March 16, Health Care and Counseling appointments may only be made by calling the Barnes Center at The Arch at 315.443.8000. The Patient Portal will not be available to schedule an appointment.

    Syracuse University students experiencing a mental health crisis, seeking support for sexual assault or relationship violence, or needing medical consultation can receive free confidential services 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 315.443.8000. Please note, routine consultations should hold until the next business day.

    • Virtual Wellness Leadership Institute Workshops Available until Monday, Aug. 24, students are encouraged to explore the virtual summer series workshops. Workshops highlight a variety of health and wellness topics, such as stress management, alcohol safety and relationships.
    • Virtual Pet Therapy Thursdays Each Thursday join @bewellsu and the fun by sharing your pet in a post and/or story. Don’t forget to use #CusePets and #BeWellSU!

Career Services

Virtual Drop-In Sessions – Starting Tuesday, April 7, and hosted virtually on Zoom, 15 minute drop-in sessions provide personalized meeting opportunities and assistance in answering employment/academic major questions, exploring internship strategies, interview preparation, highlighting networking opportunities and more.  Upon entering Zoom, you may not immediately be able to join the meeting if a Career Exploration Specialist is meeting with another student. Please note, if this happens students will be placed into a queue and met with per arrival times.

Career Coffee Chat Video SeriesJoin members of the Career Services team as they host special guests, discuss timely topics and share helpful resources. Check back often for new content.

LGBT Resource Center

Hours of Operation: The office is closed to all visitors, but services are available virtually, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Virtual drop-in office hours are Monday through Friday, 2 – 5 p.m. via Zoom.

Available Services: Appointments are available through phone, email or video conference. Please visit the LGBT Resource Center website and social media channels for virtual programming, including weekly check-ins on social media, QueerAntine Instagram Live sessions, community building, outreach, resource, virtual meetups and educational workshops. We are also working on the 2020 Lavender Graduation.

Virtual Events:

  • Virtual Drop-In Office Hours: Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., EST, anyone in need of support can virtually “drop-in” to chat, vent or share with a staff member from the LGBT RC via Zoom.   • QueerAntine Time: For the remainder of the semester, join the LGBT RC every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, EST, for a craft or activity and opportunity for socializing on Google Meet. Upcoming activities include: evaluating the best Easter candies, baking vegan and non-vegan cookies, a science fair, a session on houseplants and a virtual tour of the queer-oriented Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art.
  • “‘Ally’ Is A Verb: Unpacking and Attacking Covert Transphobia” Workshop: Activist and educator AC Dumlao will facilitate a virtual workshop designed for cisgender LGBTQ+ allies to address covert transphobia and how allies can support and uplift trans and nonbinary students and community members. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 28, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. EDT and you can register here. Please email lgbt@syr.edu to request any accommodations.
  • Lavender Graduation: The LGBT RC’s Lavender Graduation is typically an in-person reception celebrating and sending off LGBTQ+ members of the graduating class. In lieu of an in-person event this year, the LGBT RC is asking graduating students to share their degree, major(s), minor(s), a brief biography and any photos from their time at Syracuse for a special Lavender Graduation video that will be created and shared later in the semester. The submission form will be available on the Center’s website and social media channels.
  • Safe Zone Workshops: Virtual Safe Zone workshops will be held on April 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. This program aims to build a network of students, staff, faculty and community members who are visibly and actively committed to advocating for and creating spaces of respect and inclusion for LGBTQ+ members of our community.   • LGBTQ+ Staff Affinity Group: The LGBTQ+ Staff Affinity group continues to meet virtually every other Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT via Zoom. The meetings provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ identified staff to express themselves and support one another. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 23. Email lgbt@syr.edu to join the group and request a password for the next meeting.

  • Verbal Blend Workshops: For the next three weeks, April 16, 23 and 30, Verbal Blend will host virtual writer’s workshops via Zoom from 6:30 to 8 p.m. These are opportunities for students and alumni to share their work and receive feedback from fellow students.
