Prohibited items are prohibited in rooms and apartments as well as public areas of residential facilities or outside of apartments. Any prohibited item will be confiscated and disposed of. No remuneration will be provided to the student for such items. The following items are prohibited in University housing:
- Large appliances, including air conditioners (refrigerators must be less than five cubic feet and microwaves must be less than 1,000 watts);
- Electric scooters, e-bikes, etc.
- Cooking appliances such as ovens, air fryers, hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, rice cookers, crockpots, grills (including “George Foreman-type” grills) are prohibited in residence halls. George Foreman grills, air fryers, toasters, toaster ovens, crockpots, and rice cookers are permitted in South Campus apartments;
- Space heaters;
- Candles and incense;
- Wall mounted TVs (free-standing TVs are permitted);
- Firearms, weapons, and fireworks including BB-guns, airsoft guns, and air rifles;
- All general purpose extension cords (only UL-listed grounded power strips with built-in circuit breaker are permitted);
- Halogen lamps and multiheaded lamps;
- Large pieces of furniture;
- Pets (see Pets, including Emotional Support Animals for more information).
