Community Ambassadors

Student Living employs Community Ambassadors (CAs) for both the South Campus apartment and off-campus neighborhoods. CAs assist students with their transition to more independent living situations while engaging students in programmatic efforts and door-to-door initiatives. CAs act as role models in their community and serve as a point of contact for student-residents. The CA position is an hourly paid position. While work-study is preferred, it is not required for this position.

OCCA is a part-time, student-leadership position within Student LivingĀ  and the broader Division of the Student Experience at Syracuse University. The OCCA serves as an engaged and visible student leader, University resource and support to student living within the off-campus neighborhoods. OCCAs develop individual relationships with students, facilitate the development of positive and inclusive neighborhood communities and assist with administrative responsibilities in the neighborhoods.

The OCCAs report directly to the residence directors of off-campus and apartment living and indirectly to Student Living leadership. OCCAs work collaboratively with fellow student leaders (e.g. South Campus Community Ambassadors) and campus partners while completing relevant job responsibilities.

In addition to training and opening, the OCCA position is approximately five to seven hours per week and spans the academic year.

OCCAs Handshake application for the 2022-2023 academic year is now open. Visit the Handshake instructional webpage for more information.
